One of the biggest questions I get before a session is: “What should we wear?”

And honestly? The goal isn’t perfection. It’s cohesion, comfort, and a little personality.

For this recent session, we kept things soft and neutral. Think creams, tans, and light earthy tones, but added a fun, unexpected element: fairy wings ✨

The result? A look that felt straight out of a storybook while still staying timeless.

Neutral tones are always a win because they:

Photograph beautifully in any lighting

Keep the focus on your connection, not your clothes

Mix easily across multiple people

Adding something playful, like wings, a flowy dress, or textured layers—can elevate your session and make it feel a little more magical without going over the top.

Tips for creating a similar look:

Start with a neutral base palette (cream, beige, soft gray)

Add texture (linen, knits, flowy fabrics)

Incorporate one “statement” piece (like fairy wings or a dress with movement)

Avoid heavy patterns or logos

The best part? Outfits like this still allow kids to move freely—which means more natural, candid moments (my favorite kind).
